Dream, The Courtyard Theatre, London
12th - 17th February 2018
For this production of Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, the director was keen to avoid the friendly, woodland glade fairies. Instead wanting to play upon the mysterious, slightly sinister nature fairies would have had when the play was originally written.
Taking this idea, along with inspiration from forests and architecture, I have designed a set that immerses the audience in the environment of the play. Using my knowledge of yarns, the set is constructed from over 13,500 individual threads including UV reactive yarns, that combine to create an ethereal, mysterious atmosphere.
